Tewkesbury Shield 2014, 3rd May

For the first time since 2001 the Society entered a team into the Tewkesbury Sheild. A rather tired practice the day after the dinner showed that we had a lot of work ahead of us if we were to put in a credible performance. After several chances to practice on the Easter Tour the test piece started to come together.

An early start on the day of the competition meant we had a chance to practice at Christchurch, Swindon. This was our first practice as a complete band, and was a good chance to go through the test piece a few times.

We were drawn to ring last, so to kill or cure our chances most of us headed straight to the pub. After several hours of waiting around we finally had our chance to ring, which we did. As with every previous time the Society had entered a team, we came 6th, which with more teams entering means that we are improving!

We were particularly grateful to the numerous members who turned out on the day to offer us their support. It was noticed that there were almost enough to enter a second team!

Many thanks to Rhiannon for organising the team, and to all thers who helped with arrangements or support on the day.
